Life of a Nomad

I received my eviction notice this morning. The landlords have decided to shred my lease and stop renting to university students. I have 45 days to vacate. According to the Housing Department on campus, this is completely legal.

At this point, I don’t know where I’ll go but I need to work fast to get an apartment lined up for summer and fall.

Also, this marks the 4th time I’ve moved within a two year period. I haven’t stayed in the same place for longer than 8 months. I’m getting used to abrupt moves. I think I even enjoy them.

If anything, it ensures life’s never dull.

An excerpt from a conversation earlier this afternoon:

Realtor: You mean all of you were going to stay here for Summer? I thought everyone was going home.
Me: No, except for one who is graduating, we’re all going to be in Laie. We told you that last March when you brought the buyers on a tour and asked us what our plans were.
Realtor: I had no idea. I’m sooooo soooorry they’re making you move!
Me: *glares*

You sold the property, good for you. Did your job and got your commission. Laying insincere condolences on top of everything else only angers me and my house-mates.

Business is business.

No one needs to apologize for for that fact. Just don’t patronize me with selective memory.
